PC, PS5, and Series X|S users should be in the clear, but everyone else should wait and see. But, by the time Ubisoft is ready to reveal a launch date, we’ll certainly hear more about its planned platforms. There’s no release date set for the Splinter Cell remake, and there likely won’t be one for a while. Unfortunately, it’s too early in development to give any more firm details. Most major game companies already offer their own cloud streaming services, meaning even games like Control can run on the Switch. Since the release date is likely years away, there’s no telling how we’ll be playing games by then. Of course, we’re inclined to never say never. ![]() It seems the engine requires the power afforded by current-generation consoles. Since it uses Ubisoft’s latest Snowdrop engine, the Splinter Cell remake probably won’t release for the PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch. Instead, it’s available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Stadia, and Luna. That same engine powers Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which is not available for previous-generation consoles. In the game’s announcement post, Ubisoft states that the upcoming remake is being built around the Snowdrop engine. And, who knows it might actually be decent. I know right splinter cell is my favorite stealth franchise. But, given that the Splinter Cell remake is still some way off from release, fans will have to make do with whatever they can get. It's a departure from the video game series, for sure, and a radio drama probably isn't the first thing that fans would want in terms of new Splinter Cell material. The basic premise is that the team is on a mission to recruit some new operatives for the super secret agency, but when a long-dead enemy of Sam Fisher reappears, things go awry, and it's up to the daddy-daughter duo to save the day, with the help of their colleagues in the earpiece, of course. The limited series will see (or not see? Hear?) Sam Fisher teaming up with his daughter, Sarah Fisher, who has followed in her old man's silent footsteps by joining Fourth Echelon.
